Excellence in Teaching Award Winners Announced

Irish Dancing Magazine, the global print magazine covering the interesting world of Irish Dance and culture, recently announced the award-winning recipients of the annual Irish Dancing Teacher Awards. The international award recognizes Excellence in Teaching the art of Irish Dance by honoring extraordinary dance teachers.

After an extensive review of hundreds of nominations, Irish Dancing Magazine narrowed the field to an impressive list which includes 21 individuals representing 20 dance schools globally. The award-winning teachers are from Ireland, UK, Australia, Canada, Netherlands, and the United States.

“This award is about much more than competitive results. It is about showcasing teachers who are admired by their dancers, families, or industry peers,” shared Denise Keane, publisher of Irish Dancing Magazine. “The time people took to write in-depth nominations illustrates the positive impact so many dance teachers have on their dancers and local communities, and this is something to be celebrated.”

Irish Dancing is an activity with a robust performance and competitive scene. The dance form shot to popularity more than 25 years ago with the debut of Riverdance and Lord of the Dance.  Most Irish Dancing teachers offer classes for toddlers through adults.

There are noticeable benefits of dance, which is a fun source of exercise. According to the non-profit organization Advancing Dance Education in the Arts, dance helps children mature physically, emotionally, socially, and cognitively.

In recent years Irish Dance exploded on social platforms such as TikTok, Facebook & Instagram with hundreds of millions of views of Irish Dancing videos.

“All this attention has created huge demand for classes,” explains Keane.

The magazine created the Global Excellence in Teaching Awards to recognize the extraordinary efforts of a select group of international teachers. Over the past couple of years, 50 dance teachers from all over the world have received the prestigious award.
