Honouring the Bright Stars of 2023
Irish Dancing Magazine is thrilled to continue the tradition of honouring dance teachers. Now in its third year, the Excellence in Teaching Awards recognises extraordinary teachers across the globe.
This year's class of 20 award-winning teachers hail from all over the world, representing Ireland, England, Germany, Australia, the USA and Canada. The international spirit of Irish Dance has never been stronger, and these dance educators have played a pivotal role in spreading the love of dance within their local communities and beyond.
Nomination Qualifications
During the nomination process teachers stood out who had some, if not all, of these attributes:
- Community Champions: They are dedicated to their local communities through creative outreach programmes.
- Mentors and Motivators: They bring out the best in their students, not just as dancers but as individuals.
- Body Positivity Advocates: They foster a body-positive teaching style, promoting self-confidence and acceptance.
- Mental Health Advocates: They prioritise their dancers' mental health and safety.
- Champions of Equality: They are committed to anti-racism, equality and inclusion.
- Life Changers: They make a significant difference in their dancers' lives, going above and beyond their roles as dance teachers.
